Hometax year-end PDF — how to download it and fill the calculator in one step
The hardest part of estimating your settlement is not the maths — it is knowing how much you spent on cards, medical care or insurance. The National Tax Service already has those numbers. One PDF from Hometax gives you all of them.
Downloading on Hometax (PC)
- Go to Hometax and log in with your alien registration number (외국인등록번호). Simple authentication apps and joint certificates both work.
- Open 장려금·연말정산·기부금 → 연말정산간소화 → 소득·세액공제 자료 조회 (incentives · year-end settlement · donations → simplified year-end settlement → view deduction data).
- Choose the tax year and press 조회 (search). Each tab — health insurance, medical, credit cards and so on — shows an amount.
- Press 한번에 내려받기 (download all) at the top right. Everything is saved as one PDF.
The site is in Korean. Menu names change slightly every year; if you cannot find it, type 연말정산간소화 into the Hometax search box. Use the download-all file for the calculator — it has every item and your family’s data in one file.
Downloading on Sontax (mobile)
The Sontax (손택스) app has the same menu: 연말정산간소화 → 소득·세액공제 자료 조회, then download. The PDF is saved in your phone’s Files / Downloads folder and you can upload it to the calculator straight away.
Before January 15 — use last year’s PDF
This year’s data opens around January 15. Before that, choose last year as the tax year. Past years can be viewed and downloaded at any time.
Last year’s PDF tells you “if I spend like last year, what will this year look like?” — useful in November and December, when you can still add pension savings or change how you pay.
Family data missing? Consent
Data for your spouse, parents or adult children only appears if they give consent on Hometax. Children under 19 appear without consent. Family members living abroad have no Hometax data at all — their documents are handled separately (see dependents).
Filling the calculator from the PDF
Upload the file with Fill from Hometax PDF. These are filled in automatically:
| Filled in | Handled for you |
|---|---|
| Credit card, debit card, cash receipts (traditional market, public transport, culture split out) | Family members’ cards included only if they meet the income test |
| Medical costs, insurance payouts | Insurance payouts subtracted; glasses capped at ₩500,000 per person; costs for yourself, people 65+, children 6 and under and disabled people moved to the unlimited field |
| Education, uniforms, exam fees | Split into preschool / school / university; uniform and field-trip caps applied |
| Protection insurance premiums | Only for family members who qualify by age or disability |
| Pension savings / IRP, jeonse loan repayments, mortgage interest, monthly rent | Annual rent converted to a monthly figure |
| Donations, national pension, health and employment insurance |
After filling, the calculator lists what it applied and what you should check. Those notes are in Korean, like the PDF. Your total salary is not in the PDF, so enter it yourself.
The file is read once, inside your browser, and never uploaded. Names and registration numbers are discarded as soon as they are read.
What the PDF does not contain
Only what institutions report to the tax office is in the PDF. Glasses, school uniforms, monthly rent, some donations, disability certificates, and anything for family living abroad usually need separate documents for your employer.
Common questions
The PDF has a password. Files sent by an employer by email sometimes do. The calculator asks for it; the password is not sent anywhere.
Can I use a photo or scan? No — only a PDF with real text, which is what Hometax downloads.
Does an older year work? Yes. Any year’s PDF can be loaded; the calculation uses the tax year selected in the calculator. It is meant for estimating the coming settlement, not for re-checking an old one.
